Ive been trying to connect my handycam dvd109 to my mac but it only seems to see the photos not video its driving me crazy trying to work it out im using i movie any help would be great Thanks. Jul 17, 2010 i did it. Plug it in via usb as if you had software. Open imovie or whatever movie editing software you have. In imovie if it is open and running when you plug in your sony handycam it should prompt you to extract the movie files. Its pretty straight forward after that. This was done on a macbook pro and using a third gen sony handycam. There is another way to extract the files under the movie. Remote shooting (tethered shooting) using live view and RAW development can be performed. Production possible with Sony cameras using functions such as time-lapse video creation using interval shooting of still images (RAW/JPEG) and pixel shift multi-shooting. Aug 27, 2006 I have a brand new Sony Handycam DCR-DVD 305 and I can't get it to work with iMovie (or my iMac). If I haven't finalized the DVD the computer tells me I've inserted a blank DVD. If I finalize the DVD in the cam the computer will launch Frontrow and show the video clips but it won't play them.

However, sometimes the files stored may get lost. The major causes of video loss are accidental deleting, corruption of the memory device, turning off or ejecting memory devices when transferring files to your Mac or Windows computers. So, if the disaster hits, is it possible to recover deleted videos from Handycam? Yes, recovering deleted videos from Sony Handycam camcorders is possible.

Step 2: A drive list will include all detected drive on external and internal devices. Choose the drive of your Sony Handycam memory card and click 'Start' to scan files on the selected drive. If your drive doesn't show up in the list, click the Refresh icon and try again. The software will start scanning the files for you.
Step 3: When scanning is done, tick the checkbox of files you want to recover. You can use the 'Filter' feature to find your files soon. Otherwise, you can check all files and click the 'Recover' button on top to recover all found files.
If Lost Data Recovery mode doesn't help, use 'Deep Scan' mode to scan again. This mode will scan your Handycam card completely and recover files based on file signature/patterns.
Part 3. Why Deleted Videos on Sony Handycam Can Be Recovered
Due to multiple storage technology used to save files in the Camcorder. Sony Handycam camcorder saves videos in three media storages: internal flash memory, SD card and in-built hard drive. All these storages work like Mac computers in that; accidental deleting does not completely remove the files from the camcorder. By hitting the delete button, the device just marks that storage space as available for new storage but does not remove the files. If no other shooting is done before recovery, the video is actually available and recoverable. It's therefore advisable not to continue shooting if recovery is necessary as this overwrites the deleted videos.

S VIDEO ID-2 AUDIO/VIDEO ID-2 LANC/DIGITAL I/O DV IN/OUT I know this can be done because the guy that used to own this camcorder and computer shot a whole movie and edited it in the computer. Also, will I need to record to a tape first then transfer to computer? Or can I leave the camcorder hooked up to the computer and just 'capture' video that way? Much obliged!
